On this page
Stuffed avocados are the dish most people picture when they think of Bistro Cafe. A halved avocado comes piled with meat or seafood, vegetables and three different sauces, and on the dine-in menu there are six versions, from $27 to $30. This guide explains how they're built, how the six differ, and which one fits what you're after.
All Six at a Glance
| Stuffed avocado | Filling | Price | Good pick if... |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pork (Carnitas) | Slow-cooked pork | $27 | You want the richest of the standard five |
| Lamb | Lamb | $27 | You like the feta and lamb pairing from the Greek plates |
| Chicken | Chicken | $27 | You want the mildest option |
| Smoked Salmon | Smoked salmon | $28 | You want a cold, salty contrast to the avocado |
| Shrimp | Shrimp | $29 | You want seafood with the guava sauce |
| Lomo Saltado | Peruvian stir-fry of steak or chicken with onion, tomato and soy sauce, plus fried potatoes | $30 | You want the most filling plate |
Prices are dine-in prices from the menu page. The cafe's Uber Eats listing also shows a Stuffed Avocado with Steak, which was one of the three most-liked items on the app when checked in October 2026.
How a Bistro Cafe Stuffed Avocado Is Built
Five of the six share the same base, so the protein is the only real choice:
- A halved avocado, filled with your protein
- Onion, tomato, spinach and green peppers
- Guava sauce, sweet and fruity
- Pesto-mayo, basil pesto mixed into mayonnaise
- Raisin vinaigrette, a sweet-sour dressing
- Crumbled feta on top
That's a lot of sauce, and it's the point. Guava is the Caribbean part, pesto and feta are Mediterranean, and the vinaigrette adds acid to cut through the avocado's fat. If you'd rather have less, ask for the sauces on the side.
The Lomo Saltado Version
The sixth avocado, sitting in the Best Sellers section at $30, is different. Instead of the shared base, it's filled with lomo saltado and served with spinach and fried potatoes.
Lomo saltado is a Peruvian stir-fry of sliced beef, onions and tomatoes with soy sauce and vinegar. It comes out of chifa, the cooking of Peru's Chinese community, and "saltado" refers to the stir-fry technique. In Peru it's served with french fries and rice. Bistro Cafe swaps the rice for the avocado and keeps the potatoes. You can choose steak or chicken.
One thing to know: soy sauce usually contains wheat, so the lomo saltado avocado is not a safe choice for anyone avoiding gluten. The gluten-free guide has more.
Why Avocados?
Stuffed avocado, or aguacate relleno, is common across Latin America, usually as a cold starter filled with chicken or seafood salad. Bistro Cafe turns it into a full breakfast plate with cooked fillings and three sauces. The Miami Herald's 2023 piece on the Coral Gables opening called out the lomo saltado avocado by name, and noted that one stuffed avocado is named after the owner's father-in-law, Freddy Pérez.
How to Order
- First visit: the lomo saltado avocado if you're hungry, the chicken if you want to taste the sauces without a strong meat flavor.
- Sharing: the avocados are often split. A common pattern is one stuffed avocado plus one sweet plate, such as pistachio pancakes or French toast, for two people.
- Pescatarian: the smoked salmon and shrimp avocados work. Check that nothing else on the plate is cooked with meat.
- No pork: skip the carnitas version. The others list no pork in their fillings, but ask about shared cooking surfaces.
Other Avocado Plates on the Menu
| Dish | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
| El Jibarito | Scrambled eggs with vegetables and cheddar served inside an avocado, with pita | $21 |
| Avocado Toast with Smoked Salmon | Smoked salmon and goat cheese over guacamole, with eggs | $29 |
| Avocado Toast with Prosciutto | Avocado toast topped with prosciutto | $28 |
| Shrimp Avocado Toast | Shrimp, guacamole, brie and guava sauce with crispy onions | $31 |
| Octopus Avocado Tostones | Octopus and avocado on fried green plantain | $34 |
El Jibarito is the cheapest way to get the avocado-as-a-bowl idea, and it's vegetarian.
